Safeguarding All of God’s Family

safeguardAt St. Peter Catholic School, we are committed to providing a safe environment with healthy relationships for all students, parents, school personnel, volunteers, and clergy. In accordance with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee policy on Safeguarding All of God’s Family, SPCS seeks to promote awareness of abuse of children and youth, particularly the injustice of sexual abuse in society.

Established Volunteers: Thank you for the employees and volunteers who have taken the training already. Your records should be on file at SPCS (this includes the parish employees as well). If you attended a session at a different location, please give a copy of the certificate to the school office.

New Volunteers: All employees and volunteers who interact regularly with children at St. Peter Catholic School must attend one Safe Environment Education (SEE) session (formerly “Virtus Program.”) Whether you are a lunch supervisor, playground supervisor, religious education teacher, field trip chaperone, or a once-a-year classroom helper, you must attend this training at least once.

All participants must pre-register for Safe Environment Education sessions on the Archdiocesan website.

About the Safe Environment Education Classes

The goal of the Safeguarding All of God’s Family program is to protect our children and all the church family from sexual abuse and related dangers. We are confident that the Safe Environment Education sessions will ensure that St. Peter Catholic Parish remains a safe learning environment for all. Here are some quick facts of what you need to know:

  • There is no cost to attend the session.
  • Participants must arrive on time and stay for the entire session. Latecomers will not be admitted and those who leave early will not receive credit for attendance, so please plan accordingly.
  • Safe Environment Education sessions are not appropriate for those under the age of 18 or currently in high school. Please do not bring your underage children to the SEE sessions.
  • If the SEE sessions offered listed above do not fit into your schedule, you may attend a different SEE session offered within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. If you choose to do so, St. Peter Catholic School will need a copy of your certificate of completion for our records. No adult will be able to volunteer at St. Peter Catholic School and/or Parish until they have completed the training.
